Lithuanian design prize GOOD DESIGN is a national contest aimed to celebrate the most successful Lithuanian design ideas and collaborations with local businesses. GOOD DESIGN is awarded each year. The winners are selected by the international jury.
In 2016, carpet LIETUVA (designed by Justė Pavasarytė and Francesco Costacurta for EMKO, manufactured by ECOLINUM) received contest diploma and was displayed at the special exhibition of winners works at Vilnius Town Hall.
Linen carpet LIETUVA is inspired by the Lithuanian identity, which manifests through old traditions, colours, clothing and handicraft. A colourful woven stripe, once used in the national costume, is one of the most unique Lithuanian symbols. Yarns of the stripes from beautiful geometric patters, stylised flowers and elegant colour combinations, whereas the stripes themselves are used as elements intersecting the carpet.
